Our 3rd Grade Students have been learning ALL about local government! Recently, they were able to take a trip downtown to Platteville’s City Hall where they learned more about the departments of local government, townships, the common good, and taxes! . City Manager Clinton Langreck, Platteville School District Community Resource Officer Josh Stowe, and Communications Specialist Jodie Richards were excited to give the students an opportunity to see Platteville’s local government in action! . Our 1st graders have been busy studying all kind of plants in their classroom and recently took a trip to the Rountree Branch Trail to study them in person! . Dan Flesch, a retired Platteville School District teacher and PCA volunteer, was their tour guide and taught them about various plants along the trail and in Katie's Garden. . They were joined by Sue Kies, author of Sassy's Vacation, as well as a few of the donors who made it possible for all of the first graders to get a copy of the book! . Today, students and staff at Westview Elementary celebrated Mr. Finley's 5th Birthday! From wagging his tail at the school gates to comforting us during challenging times, Finley has become an essential part of our school community. 🐶 To mark this special occasion, our students organized a surprise celebration filled with happiness and hugs! 🎈 They showered Finley with love and gratitude, showing just how much he means to each and every one of us. As the summer heat starts to creep in, what better way to cool off than with popsicles? The joyful sounds of laughter and giggles echoed through Westview as students shared stories of their favorite memories with Finley. It's heartwarming to see the incredible bond they've formed with our four-legged friend. Not only does Finley bring smiles and tail wags to every face, big and small, but he also serves as a calming presence, offering a sense of comfort during stressful moments. 🔬🌟 Mr. Heer's Integrated Science Class just took their learning to new heights last week by launching a ROCKET! 🌟🔬 .. 🌍🔭 This experience not only fostered their love for science but also highlighted the importance of teamwork and perseverance. It took collaboration, planning, and dedication to make this launch a success. These students truly embraced the scientific process, and we couldn't be prouder of their achievements! 👏 .
