Cindy Tang and Jim Boebel

The Platteville School District is thrilled to announce the nomination of Ms. Cindy Tang and her non-profit organization, Inspiring Community, Inc. (ICI), for the prestigious 2025-2026 WASDA Bert Grover Child Advocacy Award. This award recognizes exceptional individuals and organizations that have shown an unwavering commitment to the mission of educating and supporting all children.

A Legacy of Impact

Under Cindy Tang’s visionary leadership, ICI has become a cornerstone of support for Platteville’s youth. Over the last three years alone, the organization has generated more than $5 million in community-supported funding. These contributions have touched every corner of the Platteville School District, directly benefiting our 1,500+ students.

Key achievements of this partnership include:

  • The PHS Scholarship Fund: Established by Cindy in 2010, the fund has awarded over $1.79 million to 1,041 graduates to date.

  • Community Investment: Cindy was instrumental in the 2023 opening of the Platteville Inclusive Playground, a 21,000-square-foot space designed for children of all abilities.

  • District Enhancements: Funding has supported everything from high school auditorium audio systems and athletic scoreboards to trail expansions and outdoor learning spaces.

  • Future Growth: ICI is currently leading efforts to construct the Platteville Family Aquatic Center and Platteville Fire Department.

Cindy’s work goes beyond financial support; she is a "community catalyst" who coaxes the best out of others to turn ambitious visions into reality. As Superintendent Jim Boebel noted, her leadership exemplifies the very purpose of the Bert Grover Award—advancing educational equity and opportunity for every learner.
