A Legacy of Impact

Steve Olenchek, a dedicated educator at Platteville Middle School, was selected for his innovative approach to science education and unwavering commitment to student success. Known for making complex scientific concepts accessible and engaging.

Upon receiving the news, the district expressed immense pride in his accomplishment, noting that Mr. Olenchek's passion for the subject matter creates a transformative environment for his students.

About the Award

The Herb Kohl Educational Foundation was established by the late U.S. Senator Herb Kohl to recognize the "unsung heroes" of Wisconsin's education system. Each year, only 100 teachers across the state are selected for this honor through a rigorous nomination and review process involving parents, students, and fellow educators.

As a Kohl Fellow, Olenchek is now also eligible for the Wisconsin Teacher of the Year program, further highlighting the caliber of instruction happening within the Platteville School District.
