Platteville High School students will showcase their full-size residential house build project on Tuesday, October 28th, from 4:00-6:00 p.m. Led by construction instructor, Jason Sasse, students will be giving tours of the residence to all attendees.
Located at 720 Lutheran Street in Platteville and owned by long-time Platteville residents, Bill and Jean Sanders, the 5-bedroom, 3-bathroom house features approximately 3,800 square feet of living space, modern finishes, and energy-efficient design. Over the past 2 school years, more than 40 high school students took on every phase of the project, including foundation work, framing, roofing, electrical wiring, plumbing, and interior finishing such as drywall, floors, cabinetry, and trim.
“This isn’t a small project or a model home – there was a high-level of customization to this project,” says Jason Sasse, Platteville High School Construction Teacher. “It is a culmination of partnering with the local community construction experts teaching our students about the construction process. Seeing them transition from reading the house plans to safely and skillfully installing siding or flooring is incredibly inspiring.”
This open house provides an opportunity for the public and industry partners to tour the residence and speak directly with the students about the construction process, challenges they overcame, and the life-long technical skills they mastered.
All community members are welcome to attend and are encouraged to support these students in showcasing their craftsmanship.
