This past week, a group of Platteville Middle School singers traveled to Appleton to participate in the Wisconsin Choral Directors Association's Middle Level All State Choir! 🎶 . A group of Platteville Middle School Students in Miss Schreiber's STEM classes delivered some very special Holiday Cards to our friends at Park Place Senior Living! ✨ . 👉 Each student made a Circuit Holiday Card with a light in each one which they wired themselves! They even took the cards up last week to hand deliver them to the residents! . These students loved having this opportunity to hand out the cards and visit with the residents -- it really "lit" up their day! 💡 . #thehillmenway

On the 1st Friday of the month, our Neal Wilkins Early Learning Center hosts game night! 🎲 . 👉 Providing time for learning games strengthens students' social emotional skills including teamwork, taking turns, and learning how to lose. Each month the classroom teacher teaches the students a specific game and then community partners are invited to come in to play games with our students on the first Friday for 30 minutes! . The Platteville High School Diverse Student Alliance (DSA), High School Intro to Education students, and Edenbrook residents are a few of the partners this month! A group of Platteville High School Business & Marketing students made their way to the Mall of America last week to get a in-depth behind-the-scenes tour! 🤩 . 👉 Students were provided with an overview of the financial, marketing and business operations of the mall and applied what they are currently learning in class to real scenarios! . Daniel Jasper, Senior VP of Mall of America Press, gave the students a tour of the mall and they also received a copy of his book, Mall of America Celebrates 30 Years! ✨ . #thehillmenway

Last week, members of the Platteville High School HOSA (Future Health Professionals) Group welcomed Julie Stephenson, Director of Culture and Learning, from Southwest Health! ✨ . She talked to them about different opportunities in the healthcare field AND presented the group with a donation of $2,000 to their club which is brand new to the high school this year! 🤩 . Last week, our 1st Grade Students had a VERY special visitor at Westview! Mrs. Sue Kies, a published author and former Platteville High School teacher, talked to the group about the book they are reading, "Sassy's Vacation"! 🐢 . Students got the opportunity to ask Mrs. Kies about the different parts of the book and what it was like writing it. The book is even based on the Rountree Branch Trail right here in Platteville! 🤩 . THANK YOU, Mrs. Kies, for visiting Westview and for the support the Platteville Optimist Club and a group of local community members who donated copies of "Sassy's Vacation" for each 1st grade student to take home with them! 👏 . #thehillmenway

To celebrate & give THANKS, our Neal Wilkins Early Learning Center students wrote cards to local heroes such as police officers and firefighters to show their appreciation for all they do for our Platteville Community! . Last week, we had the honor of welcoming Nedallas Hammill, a World Champion Native American Hoop Dancer, to perform at our schools! ✨ . This was an AMAZING experience to learn more about hoop dancing and also Nedallas, who is currently a UW-Platteville Student and who also performed at last year's Super Bowl! 🤩 . Congratulations to Platteville High School's Rowan Chmielewski for receiving 1st Place in the UW-Platteville Business Challenge! 🏆 . 👉 She was challenged to serve as a business manager and make decisions about launching a product with a focus on the company's marketing mix! . Rowan received a $500 scholarship to UW-Platteville -- congratulations! ✨ . #thehillmenway

Jessica Puls, our district Occupational Therapist, recently partnered with Dr. Harold (Hal) Evensen, an Engineering & Physics Professor and the Holiday Toy Hack at UW-Platteville to switch adapted toys for one of our students to purposefully engage the student in classroom activities! 🤩 . Platteville High School Marching Band Director, Kevin Cooley, has been selected to march in 2023 Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade® with The Band Directors Marching Band! 🥁 . The Saluting America’s Band Directors project brings together band directors from across the country to New York City on November 23, 2023, for the parade! This year's theme is “America’s band directors: We teach music. We teach life.”! 🎶 . 👉 Mr. Kevin Cooley has been selected to join a marching band of 400 band directors -- tune in to the broadcast on Thanksgiving to see him! . We are SO grateful for our friends at Southwest Health & Ruby's Pantry for their recent donation of food supplies and multi-purpose drawstring bags! Check out this group of 3rd Grade Students in Mrs. Robert's class! 🌷 . They are learning all about how and why flowers are pollinated. In the activity, students made flower models out of paper and bee models out of pipe cleaners. Students flew their bees from flower to flower and observed what happens to the flower’s pollen during this process! 🐝 . #thehillmenway
