Our very own Platteville High School senior, Emelia Thelemann, was invited to participate in Pathways to Prevention: A Symposium on Building Resilience to Hate as a student panelist discussing powerful stories on targeted violence prevention at Columbia University in New York City!

Emelia is an active leader of the Platteville High School Diverse Student Alliance and on the student ambassador board for We Are Many-United Against Hate. As a panelist, she discussed practical ways that Platteville's DSA is building resilience and understanding alongside fellow students, respected authors, film directors, and advocates of these topics. This event was hosted by Dr. Amra Sabic-El-Rayess, founder and director of the International Interfaith Research Lab at Teachers College, Columbia University.

The discussion centered on hate prevention through storytelling and education to share insights and innovative strategies to foster empathy and promote education as effective tools against hate.

Congratulations, Emelia, and Platteville High School Diverse Student Alliance advisor, Mrs. Emily Zachary, for your leadership and participation in this event!
