The National Honor Society at Platteville High School is an organization made up of students who exemplify academic excellence, strong leadership, good character, and the willingness to serve others.
Students are eligible to apply for membership in National Honor Society in their junior or senior year, provided they have a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.50. To apply, students write a short essay about their involvement in school and the community. In addition to academic excellence, selection for membership is based on leadership, service, and character. The criterion is rated by the entire high school faculty, with the final decisions made by a faculty committee.
National Honor Society members are inducted in the spring at a special Induction Ceremony.
Meetings are held throughout the year to plan school and/or community service projects. The National Honor Society participates in Wisconsin's Adopt-A-Highway program, maintaining a two-mile stretch of Highway 80. These clean-ups are done twice a year, in the fall and in the spring. The organization also has a holiday service project. In past years, the group has collected "Toys for Tots" and "Coats for Kids."
Platteville High School is proud to salute the academic excellence, leadership, character, and service displayed by the members of the National Honor Society.
