The Platteville High School girls’ soccer program is open to all interested female students. It is a spring sport that competes at varsity and junior varsity levels. Members of each team can be from any grade (9-12). Team assignments are made after the first week of practice. The size of each team may vary, but the maximum varsity team will be 22 players.
Practices start in March and games may extend until the state competition in June. Practices are held after school from 3:45-5:30 p.m. Some practices may occur at other times. A calendar listing practices and games will be given to each player at the beginning of the season. Practices will focus on three major goals (conditioning, skills, and team play).
Awards are given at the completion of the soccer season. In addition, varsity players are also eligible for the following special awards, if there have been no Activities Code violations for one full calendar year: Most Valuable Player, MVP-Offense, MVP-Defense, Most Improved Player, Team Captain, and Most Inspirational Player.
Expectations for Players:
1. Attend all practices and contests on time, unless previously excused by the coach.
2. Approach every practice and game in a positive manner and always give your best effort.
3. Represent yourself, your team, PHS, and your family in a positive manner.
4. Exemplify good sportsmanship at all times.
5. Show your Platteville School Pride at all times.
6. Wear your team jersey the day of a contest.
7. Ride the bus or school vans to and from all contests. (Parents may make special arrangements with the coach due to unusual circumstances. Requests need to be made writing and given to the coach to make the final decision on whether to honor the request.)
8. Notify the coach in writing of any special medical concerns before the season begins, or as they arise in the season.
9. Follow the Platteville High School Activities Code.
The season will conclude with a parent/player reception that will involve a potluck and honoring of all team members. Awards will be given at the reception.
