EXPLORE CAREER OPPORTUNITIES
The decisions you make today can lead to success in the future. In FCCLA/HERO/HOSA, you'll learn about careers and develop job skills so you are prepared to move from school to work.
There are three types of chapters to meet the vocational needs of members:
FCCLA (Family, Career, & Community Leaders of America) Comprehensive Chapters concentrate on family and consumer education: clothing design and textiles, food and nutrition, personal growth, family life education, child development, housing and home furnishings, consumerism and resource management. To join, enroll in any Family & Consumer Education class.
HERO (PHS's name for the career division of FCCLA)
Chapters emphasize preparation for jobs and careers in family and consumer economics related occupations: food services, child services, clothing services, and family and community services. To join you must have previously taken or be currently enrolled in Intro to FCE Careers or Human & Community Services Coop.
HOSA (Health Occupations Students of America)
Chapters are for students that are previously or currently enrolled in Intro to Health Occupations. They have the opportunity to share experiences with other people involved in health occupations. Members build confidence in their own ability to develop skills that will lead to successful employment in the field of health.
To join FCCLA/HERO/HOSA, visit the Family and Consumer Education department and talk to the chapter advisors: FCCLA-Comprehensive Advisor, Mrs. Hoppe; and HERO/HOSA Advisor, Mrs. Sommerfeld.
