The Platteville School District adopted a new reading series for grades one through six during the 2008-2009 school year. The reading series is called Storytown and it is published by the Houghton Mifflin Harcourt Company. ThinkCentral is Houghton Mifflin Harcourt’s all-in-one learning website associated with the new reading series. One user name and password gives you access to digital books, activities, readers, and more related to your child’s grade level reading materials.
Student eBooks are fun and interactive digital versions of the student’s traditional print textbook used in the classroom. Every day, at home or at school, students will be able to log into ThinkCentral and immediately be able to view and explore the reading materials. As you explore the new eBooks, look for the exciting interactive features offering links to additional resources, games, activities, and extra help.
In the fall, teachers will be setting up their classroom accounts so that students and parents can access the student e-Books as well as additional online readers from the reading series. Teachers may also develop assignments and assessments through ThinkCentral in the future. Additional information about ThinkCentral will be sent home with your child once the teachers have their classroom accounts set up. There is also a manual available entitled ThinkCentral Guide for Family Involvement.
