SCHOOL DISTRICT OF PLATTEVILLE
NOTIFICATION OF VOCATIONAL OPPORTUNITIES
(Section 204(g) of the Carl B. Perkins Vocational Education Act)
Each year, the School District of Platteville offers vocational education programs at Platteville High School. These programs are designed to prepare youth for a broad range of employment and training services and are offered under the guidance of certified teachers, counselors and cooperative education coordinators.
Platteville Schools offer vocational programs in agriculture education, business education, family and consumer education, and technology education.
Specific courses in agriculture are: Ag Production Technologies, Animal Science, Mechanical Technology, Plant and Soil Science, Food Science, Horticulture and Landscape Design, Exploring Natural Resources, Marketing Ag Products and Services, Research and Development in Ag Industries, Ag Consumers, Employment in Agriculture, Agriculture Co-op Work Experience.
Specific courses in business education include: Word Processing and Formatting, Entrepreneurship, Hillmen Outlets, Business Computer Applications, Management and Law, Accounting I, Business Procedures, Accounting II, Business Occupations Capstone Course, Business Occupations Cooperative Work Experience.
Specific courses in family and consumer education are: Food Science, Fashion Careers, Foods and Family, Exploring the Housing Industry, Family and Jobs, Food Service, Family and Society, Parents and Children, Introduction to Health Occupations, Introduction to FCE Related Careers, Youth Tutoring Youth, Child Care Services, Human and Community Services Cooperative Capstone, Human and Community Services Cooperative Work Experience.
Specific courses in technology education include: Computer-Aided Design, Energy, Power and Transportation, Explorations in Manufacturing and Construction, Technical Computer and Communications Technology, Multi-Media Communications, Principles of Technology, Introduction to the World Wide Web, Manufacturing Technology, Construction Technology, Technology Systems, Principles of Engineering, Technology Education Cooperative Work Experience.
