School Board Committees
In addition to two regularly scheduled school board meetings each month, board members also serve on specialized committees. Ad hoc committees are created from time to time to conduct specific business and are disbanded when the work is completed. Facility study, insurance study and collective bargaining committees are examples of ad hoc committees.
Standing committees, on the other hand, have an ongoing purpose and typically meet on the first Monday of the month. These committees provide an opportunity to study upcoming school board issues in depth and to make recommendations to the full board for action. The District has established three standing committees, described below, with membership consisting of three school board members, the superintendent and the business manager.
